Decor I Adore

Don't know about you, but for me it's the little things in my house that make it feel personal and special. It's those little tidbits that really make home feel like home.

I love old books, both for looks and what's on the pages, and just finished reading The Carter Girls series by Nell Speed on Project Gutenberg*. The books were so charming, and I knew I wanted tangible copies to re-read and enjoy ASAP. Little did I know the series is rare and wasn't published for long - Somewhere between 1913 and 1924. I've found 2 of the 3 so far, and am actively on the hunt to complete my trio.

A recent trip to Hobby Lobby (aka: my Mecca) brought a stellar find for this horseshoe collecting gal:

It hasn't found a permanent home yet, but the dining room walls are still pretty bare and begging for some sprucing, so I'm thinking that's where it will probably land. It's metal, sturdy, and was under $15. Winner.

So those are the new small goodies I'm currently enjoying ogling at home. There are bigger things of which photos still need to be taken - Namely, the peacock feather rug and the window seat my dad has been building that may (hope, hope, hope!) be installed this weekend. So exciting!



*Do you know about Gutenberg.org? It's an amazing site full of THOUSANDS (40 thousand, if we're being specific) of free books to read online. Mostly classics, you can search through authors or genres to find something that strikes your fancy. It never ceases to introduce me to new authors or books I've heard of but never thought to purchase or take out of the library. Check it out!
